The Wootton Patriots host the Sherwood Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in Rockville.

Sherwood (5-1) arrives after a 9-0 loss to No. 5 Quince Orchard on Friday, Oct. 9, in Sandy Spring. The Warriors became the first team this season to hold the Cougars without a touchdown, as Bethesda Magazine reported. All three QO scores came on field goals from junior kicker Seth Rubin.

The comparison matters for Wootton fans. Quince Orchard beat Churchill 41-0 on Saturday, Oct. 3, rolling up that margin against a Bulldogs squad that had entered the game 4-0. Sherwood held the same QO offense scoreless in the first quarter and trailed just 6-0 at halftime.

Junior cornerback Brody Schwartz tackled QO senior Jaheim Bond at the 1-yard line in the third quarter, forcing a field goal instead of a touchdown. Junior defensive back Jason Washington recorded a sack on QO quarterback Carter Dailey and made a key stop that returned possession to Sherwood in the second quarter.

"They couldn't run up the score against us tonight, that shows the level of competition our team can play to," Schwartz said after the game.

Senior quarterback Matthew Larsen leads the Sherwood offense. Larsen earned first-team All-Montgomery County honors in 2025 as a junior and led the Warriors to the Class 3A state championship game that season, finishing 11-2.

Wootton (1-5) enters after a 52-27 loss to Richard Montgomery on Oct. 9, according to MaxPreps. The Patriots have dropped four straight. Running back Elijah Cullen rushed for 63 yards and added 49 receiving yards in the loss. Defensive backs Kaveh Tabatabai and Tyler Saingbe each recorded an interception.

Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Wootton High School.
