Churchill girls soccer takes an 8-0-1 record to Poolesville on Monday, Oct. 12. The Falcons sit at 7-1 after losing for the first time all season.

Kickoff is 7:15 p.m. at Poolesville.

The Bulldogs have won eight straight since a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Bethesda-Chevy Chase on Sept. 16. Their resume includes a 5-1 win over Richard Montgomery, a 6-2 victory at Urbana, a 3-1 result at Quince Orchard and a 2-1 road win at Walter Johnson on Sept. 30, according to MaxPreps.

Poolesville had been unbeaten through seven games with six clean sheets and just three goals allowed all season, Bethesda Magazine reported. That run ended Wednesday, Oct. 7, when Richard Montgomery beat the Falcons 2-1 in Rockville.

Both teams are about two weeks from postseason play. Monday's matchup pits the two best records in the area against each other heading into the stretch run.

Churchill sophomore forward Katelin Sagan and senior captain Noor Neama have powered the Bulldogs' offense. Neama scored from outside the 18-yard box in the Sept. 30 win over Walter Johnson, and Sagan opened the scoring with a tap-in in the 52nd minute. Junior goalkeeper Mary Pilkington started in goal for that victory.

"I saw that I had the space, I cut back on my right, and I just ripped it … I was honestly surprised that it went in," Neama told Bethesda Magazine on Oct. 1, after the Walter Johnson win.

After the Poolesville game, Churchill travels to Seneca Valley on Monday, Oct. 19 and hosts Blair on Thursday, Oct. 22.
