Potomac-area residents looking for a high-intensity workout closer to home will get one this Saturday. Barry's, the global boutique fitness brand known for its dimly lit "Red Room" classes, will open its first Maryland studio at 7276 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda.

The opening gives Montgomery County its first Barry's location and marks the brand's fourth studio in the Washington, D.C. region. The other three are in Dupont Circle, Navy Yard and Arlington, Virginia.

Barry's 50-minute classes pair treadmill interval sprints with floor-based strength training. Each day's schedule rotates through a different muscle group, including upper body, lower body and total body sessions. Each class holds up to 44 people. Clients who prefer not to run can book a "double floor" spot and spend the full session on strength work.

The studio's signature setup includes Woodway treadmills, red-tinted lighting, a sound system with curated playlists, and a post-workout Fuel Bar serving shakes. Locker rooms come stocked with Dyson hair dryers and OUAI products, according to the brand's website.

Barry's was founded in West Hollywood in 1998 and first arrived in Washington, D.C., in 2017 with its Dupont Circle studio. The company now operates more than 96 studios across 17 countries, according to a June 2026 press release. Co-CEO JJ Gantt said in January 2025, when Barry's opened its Navy Yard location, that "the D.C.-area has been incredibly welcoming of our workout and community."

Grand opening festivities on July 25 will include brunch bites and photo opportunities, according to a Barry's press release. No local studio manager or franchise operator has been publicly named; the Bethesda location appears to be corporate-owned.
