A man was shot and killed in the parking lot of Potomac Woods Plaza on Seven Locks Road early Sunday, Sept. 13, and the suspect remains at large.

Montgomery County police and fire crews responded to the 1000 block of Seven Locks Road at approximately 2:02 a.m., the department said on X. Officers found an adult man with serious injuries and began providing aid. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the victim's name, saying identification would follow notification of next of kin. No suspect description or vehicle information has been made public.

The department's Major Crimes Division Homicide Unit is investigating.

Charles Slaughter, general manager of Brooklyn's Deli in the same plaza, told NBC4 Washington the shooting followed a fight at the neighboring Quincy's Potomac Bar and Grill. "There was a UFC fight, and apparently there was an argument that somehow sprawled out to the parking lot and ended up in the gunshots being fired and someone losing their life," Slaughter said.

Slaughter told NBC4 the victim's mother and brother visited the scene Sunday morning. An employee at Quincy's told the station that management had no comment.

Montgomery County Police spokesperson Degan Bartels told Bethesda Magazine on Monday, Sept. 14, that police were still searching for the suspect. Police have not confirmed the bar-fight account or released a possible motive.

The shooting is the second homicide in Montgomery County in September. On Friday, Sept. 11, a man was fatally shot in front of The Flats at Columbia Pike apartment complex in Silver Spring. Police identified him as Rafael Jeremias Brewster, 32, of Beltsville.
