Potomac Elementary School families can shop for books at the school's Scholastic Book Fair starting Friday, Oct. 2, with two family events bookending the weeklong sale.
The fair runs through Friday, Oct. 9, at 10311 River Road in Potomac, according to the Potomac Elementary School PTA. Co-chairs Jen Dennis and Katie Yang are organizing the event, which features a Teacher Wish List station where shoppers can buy books for classroom libraries at PES and for media-center libraries at sister school Highland Elementary School.
Fall Festival kickoff, Oct. 2
The book fair opens during the PTA's annual Fall Festival on Oct. 2. Families can browse and buy from 5 to 6:30 p.m. while the broader festival runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The PTA is asking families to consider a $20 "fair share" contribution to help cover festival costs.
Books and Donuts with Grownups, Oct. 9
The fair wraps up with a morning event on Oct. 9 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. called Books and Donuts with Grownups. Children can bring a parent or family member to shop together before the school day. RSVPs are available through SignUpGenius.
Payment and eWallets
The fair accepts cash, credit cards and Scholastic eWallets. An eWallet is a digital account that lets children shop without carrying cash. Every child needs a new one this year. Scholastic closed all previous eWallet accounts and sent remaining balances to the original purchaser as a gift certificate. Those funds can be applied to a new Fall 2026 account.
Parents who haven't set up an eWallet before should allow time to create one ahead of the Oct. 2 opening.
Volunteering and the Teacher Wish List
Volunteers who sign up to help run the fair receive 10 percent off their purchases. The Teacher Wish List station lets families pick out specific titles their child's teacher has requested, along with books for the PES and Highland Elementary media centers.
Families with questions can reach the book fair co-chairs through the PTA website.
