Carole Weaton launched a free online platform in May 2026 that lets Montgomery County parents search for children's classes, camps and birthday parties in one place.
The platform, called Clovie, lists more than 150 businesses across Montgomery County and Northwest Washington, D.C., as of late July 2026, Bethesda Magazine first reported Sept. 17. Weaton, 36, grew up in Potomac and now lives in North Potomac with her husband, their son and an 8-month-old daughter.
When Weaton moved back from New York City in 2023 with a 6-week-old baby, she found it hard to connect with other parents despite her local roots.
"A friend told me she found a music class through her mom group," Weaton wrote on Clovie's website. "The problem? I didn't know how to find a music class. And I didn't know how to find a mom group."
She said she was told she would meet people once her kids started school, but that was almost two years away. So she built Clovie.
The site covers North Potomac, Gaithersburg, Rockville, Germantown, Kentlands and Montgomery Village. Parents can browse by category, including swim schools, dance studios, music classes and STEM programs. Searching for an activity pulls up local providers, and parents can book through a link to the business's own site or call directly from the Clovie page.
The platform is free for parents and businesses. Parents who sign up can save favorites and receive recommendations matched to their children's ages. Clovie plans to earn revenue later through advertising, according to Bethesda Magazine.
Weaton, who has a background in e-commerce and digital merchandising, said she plans to expand Clovie across the broader D.C. region. She also wants to add instant booking and tools for parents to find and create local parent groups.
Clovie publishes a weekly newsletter called The Little Loop, a weekend roundup of kids' activities, available at cloviekids.com.
